Hello everyone! We hope you had a restful weekend and getting ready for the holidays! We have many opportunities coming up, including joining the Deloitte GPS Consulting Mentorship Program. Also, there’s a chance to join the Hack 4 Social Good Hackathon here on campus. Your team is welcome to join and represent GEECS! As most of you know, our elections are coming up, so for those interested in running for Eboard, you can find more information about it in our Opportunities section.
Also, we invite you to fill out this anonymous feedback form so that we can better gauge how useful our events have been for you or what other types of events you’d like to see in the future. Let us know of any suggestions or changes you’d like us to make and we’ll do our best to implement your ideas!

Hello!
We are the student organization Tech 4 Social Good (T4SG), and on December 7th, we will host our inaugural civic tech hackathon, “Hack 4 Social Good,” with support from CoE, UMSI, and the nonprofit New America’s Tech For Change team.
InvitationWe invite student teams of 4 to participate in hacking solutions centered around Alternative Internet Access. Given the broad topic, we hope technical and non-technical students will pitch hacks across four more specific sub-tracks.

access, digital divide, and digital literacy
crisis and disaster response
education innovation
open source and creative commons.
We think your members would be an excellent addition to this event and would love to have GEECS members represent a team at the hackathon.

Event Details + Prizes
The hackathon will feature free food, merch, workshops, and keynote speakers. Additionally, the best hack will receive a $500 Amazon gift card and the chance to use Tech 4 Social Good’s resources in the winter semester as an incubator for developing a minimum viable product of their idea. Several other winning teams will win $200 Amazon gift cards.
