Stryker’s Industry Day Invite
Happy Wednesday, I hope you’re having a great week so far! I’m reaching out to let you know that registration is officially open for Stryker’s Industry Day which will take place on March 15th, 2024. Please see attached for the official flyer which will include the registration link. We’re excited to be planning a first ever “Industry Day” for students to come and visit our building in Kalamazoo, MI (bussing paid for and provided by Stryker).
You’ll see in the attached flyer we’re planning a full day including networking with our Employee Resource Groups, a tour of our building, a product demonstration, and hearing from current Stryker employees who are UM alum about their journey from college to Stryker. The goal of this event is to provide students with an in-depth view of our organization in hopes that they can learn more about opportunities such as our 2025 internship program. As a part of an accepted registration, you’ll see that a guaranteed phone interview with a member of Stryker’s University Relations team is also included – so it’s a great opportunity for students who are looking to get a head start on the 2025 summer internship season.
We are officially opening registration today (please see the attachment) and I’m hopeful that some UM-GEECS members would have interest in joining us for the day. If you could please distribute this digital flyer to your mailing list, with an emphasis on current Freshman & Sophomores, we would really appreciate it!
Please let me know if you have any questions, and otherwise have a great rest of your week!

Community service + tutoring opportunities through End the Cycle!
My name is Ayesha Jeddy and I am the Chair of Outreach for End the Cycle at the University of Michigan. End the Cycle is a Umich organization that focuses on combating local educational inequities and homelessness in Washtenaw Community. Specifically, our members volunteer (at their discretion) to virtually tutor underserved students. Additionally, our organization sponsors seasonal committees dedicated to alleviating specific issues in the community or advocating for broader issues.
These are some of our programs you can join today:
Online tutoring
ETC offers tutoring opportunities implemented online and based on your own schedule. Applications for tutoring can be found on our website with additional information from our mass meeting attached to this email!
Computer Science Mentorship
From January-August 2023, we built a week-long computer science “bootcamp” to introduce high school students to the world of programming. Our team made progress towards our goal of equal access to STEM education resources in Michigan. This year, we’re providing one-on-one mentorship to continue to guide students toward their goals.
Apply to be a mentor through this form! More information regarding this opportunity can be found on our website
Committees: applications found on our website!
Food Insecurity Committee: a program that works with local schools and partners to enhance access to food sources, improving health and education in Washtenaw County
Project REACH: this project establishes a connection between Umich students and local Ann Arbor warming shelters to provide reading literacy aid to houseless youth through student led workshops
To reiterate, you can sign up to tutor or be a committee member on our website under the volunteer tab: endthecycleatum.org. Our application deadlines are flexible!
As End the Cycle expands to other metropolitan areas in Michigan, our demand for tutors has increased. We believe that End the Cycle can serve as an additional opportunity for you and your organization to volunteer in the community. We would gladly engage in volunteer partnership with your organization. Additionally, we would appreciate it if you could forward this opportunity to your members!
We hope to work with you, your organization, or anyone interested in this engaging, flexible, and rewarding volunteer opportunity. If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to contact me at ajeddy@umich.edu, or our Presidents Ellie White (elwhite@umich.edu) and Zubaida Azeeza (zubaida@umich.edu).
