They talked about being a women in STEM, what to look for in a college when applying, what made them interested in computer science. After that, they went into breakout rooms for out Build your own Personal Website workshop! The beginner rooms made a personal website using HTML. The intermediate rooms created a personal website with HTML and CSS.
On 11/7, they are hosting a GirlsTalkTech Learn to Code session! In this session, we'll be going over concepts important to every programming language like variables and conditionals!

D.E. Shaw Research Opportunities
Call for Applications โ Career and Internship Opportunities at D. E. Shaw Research
D. E. Shaw Research (DESRES), a New York-based scientific research group, seeks candidates from a range of scientific disciplines to join our team.
We consider bachelorโs- and masterโs-level candidates from a variety of STEM backgrounds for our Scientific Associate role.ย Scientific Associates at DESRES work closely with one or more of our senior scientists on various aspects of our groupโs core research.ย Their work may include using our ANTONยฎ supercomputers to study the structure and function of particular proteins or to conduct drug discovery research; developing simulation methods or the underlying physical models for our simulations; or applying machine learning techniques to our areas of research. ย In addition to working closely with a group of world-class scientists on cutting-edge research projects, Scientific Associates have access to unparalleled computational and research resources.
We also offer summer internships for undergraduate and graduate students. ย Senior Internships are available for undergraduate sophomores and juniors as well as graduate students from a range of technical disciplines, including applied mathematics, biology, chemistry, computer science, electrical or computer engineering, machine learning, materials science, and physics. ย Interns spend 12โ15 weeks at DESRES working closely with members of our hardware, software, or chemistry teams on a substantial engineering or research project. ย We also welcome applications from current undergraduate first-year students from a range of STEM majors for our Early-College Intern Program. ย Early-College Interns will be with us for 8 weeks and will participate in training sessions and educational workshops to gain exposure to computational research and molecular dynamics simulations. ย They will then work closely with our scientists and engineers to apply these skills to scientific research and/or engineering projects.
The work environment within our group is collaborative and dynamic, combining the best features of both the academic and industry models.ย We offer above-market compensation, comprehensive benefits, and generous relocation assistance.ย In addition, we are located in the heart of New York City, half a block away from Times Square!
